最近收到一支廠商借測的新款藍牙耳機，雖然名為新款，其實也是BLUETREK Metal的升級款，同樣名為METAL, 只是後面加個E (evolution),好吧，說那麼多，不就是小改款罷了。

Metal自去年上市以來，在門市的展售一向就是吸睛度很高的一款耳機，鋁合金金屬機身，方正超薄的高調設計，很容易引來買家的目光，這也是他的設計重點，此外5.5g的重量在配帶上幾乎不會有任何的負擔，但是待機和通話時間一點也不遜於其他接近10g等級的機種，這使它除了外型傲人之外也不失其實用。

比較可惜的一點就是Metal除了造型吸引人之外，在機能上就只有一般陽春藍牙耳機的基本功能，最大的致命傷就是高價位藍牙耳機的客群很多是商務客群，對雙待機的需求是有很高比例的，當顧客問到雙待功能時就會讓人對這款耳機卻步了。

我拿到的這款METAL E 代理商網站介紹即以evolution為名，自然是保留原有的優點，改善前代的缺點為訴求。以我這幾天的試用，倒也不愧它進化之名。多了雙待機，DSP噪音風切聲消除的功能。

新包裝是用壓克力盒為底，徹底改善了它前代用塑膠片摺起的包裝風格，減輕了廉價感，畢竟在藍牙產品蟑螂化的市場生態下，想要以高價位為號召，包裝還是不能馬虎的，下圖中配件的配置也各有所歸，有收藏品的派頭，至少當作禮品送人時不會覺得寒酸。

耳內塞的耳機設計是Metal這系列配帶的基調，可更換不同尺寸的耳塞是講究人體工學的產品絕不能缺的，使用者只要配合各人耳孔尺寸選用自己適合的耳塞直接塞入耳內，就可以很穩定的固定住，我使用標準尺寸的耳塞配帶後在室外無論是走路或跑步都不必擔心他會脫落，當然這隨各人體質不同，我曾遇過一個客人，耳道的油性簡直是滑不留手，不管怎麼塞就是會自然滑出。

面對這種問題還是需要有耳鉤的輔助，當使用耳掛時耳機的固定位置就不是在耳道內，而是要換成圖中那3個有外耳圈的耳塞；大小二種耳鉤配合3種不同鬆緊度的耳塞可以調出六種耳掛的鬆緊度，應該是夠用的了。
前代的耳掛鉤是透明的材質，雖然有隱型的效果，但是免不了一種廉價感，新版改成黑色的了，謝天謝地。

進化版的METEL終究還是保留了他最具優勢的USB充電設計，這是目前我所見最方便的藍牙耳機的充電方式，利用一個USB轉接套，可以插在專用的腰帶掛扣，在外面需要充電時只要借個有開機的電腦(現在幾乎沒有不配備USB插座的電腦吧)就可以快速的充電了。

雖然因為增加了DSP消噪訊功能而使得它的待機縮短了一些(5.5hr->5hr)換來的是更好的通話品質和雙待機的便利性，Metal E不論在質感的提升和產品機能的加強都做到了它該有的表現，當然也不是全無缺點，像它規格上的回撥功能，原廠是有註明某些機型可用，在我使用的Treo pro上就剛好沒有作用，還好這不是我個人的必要選項，還算可以接受，不過還是希望在後續出廠的產品可以改善。

The Metal Evolution headset is encased in a slick brushed-metal housing that’s only 4mm thick, weighs a fifth of an ounce (5.5g), and is the smallest Bluetooth headset with a noise canceling mic on the market.    I have purchased 3 heatsets in 4 months and this one is perfect!!! the creators reads my mind with this one. It has an “in ear canal” earpiece and earhooks if you desire along with different sizes of rubber earpieces. The sound quality is great. and recharging is as simple as plugging it into your computer (it does have a plug for electrical sockets too). This one meets all my picky requirements. KUDOS to the makers!!

Bluetrek is one of the popular makers of the Bluetooth accessories and its products are well known for innovative solutions they incorporate. Bluetrek Metal Evolution is the new good looking hands-free from Bluetrek. As the name suggests, it has impressive metal body. It has gained popularity with its “dainty design”. The call clarity is good, but the not best. Bluetrek ensures it fits nicely into the ears. Its noise cancellation technology can work up to the range of 80db.

Design

The design of the Bluetrek Metal Evolution is simple, but more elegant. The look is evergreen with the shiny metal finish guarantying it. The hands-free can be worn without the ear hook and it offers additional 6 rubber tips of different size. So it firmly and comfortably fits your ears. The only gripe is its volume rocker, it is too tiny and awkwardly placed; it doesn’t going to matter much as you may not required to use it frequently.

The Bluetrek Metal Evolution is charged through USB, but additional adapter is needed to attach accessory through hook. Unlike the Plantronics Discovery 925 and Jabra STONE, it can’t be charged while on the go. The Bluetrek Metal Evolution comes in silver and black colors. We liked both the colour schemes.

Performance & Conclusion

The Bluetrek Metal Evolution is ultra light-weighted, so it doesn’t create any problem even if you wear it for prolonged time. It is one of the most comfortable hands-free which we have ever tried. If you have big ear enough to hold it firmly, you don’t need to use ear hook. It is quite rigid and in-flexible. It provides the above average battery life of 4.5 hours of talk time and keeps the phone alive for five days in standby mode.

The call quality is pretty good compared to most of the hands-frees which we have come across till now. Our callers sounded natural, loud and clear, occasionally their sound was slightly muffling. Callers at other end, complained that we sounded bit nasal, but they claimed everything was quite good on the whole. The noise cancellation technology works flawlessly without any glitch. Our callers said we sounded erm, “childish”.

The Bluetrek Metal Evolution looks spectacular like most of the hands-frees. But we felt it is relatively expensive, which costs you $80. If you are looking for elegant and comfortable accessory, then definitely you can go for it. But if you want excellent call quality and more battery life, then better off with Plantronics Discovery 925 or  Jabra STONE. Still Bluetrek Metal Evolution is the best in its category.
