Today I am checking out the cool Bluetrek Speaky Bluetooth hands free car kit. This is not your typical hands free kit for your car and the Speaky has a distinctive style and design. The device also works pretty good too. Read on for all of the details on the Bluetrek Speaky.

In Use

The Bluetrek Speaky is a very cool little hands free device, but it is not for everyone. It looks like a little figurine and rather than attaching to your cars visor, it attaches to your dash or other flat surface in your car. The multifunction button is the little characters stomach, the left arm has the volume up, and the right has the volume down. The device supports voice dialing if it is supported by your phone. I tested the Bluetrek Speaky with my iPhone 4 and voice dialing worked perfectly. The audio quality of the Bluetrek Speaky is very good with plenty of volume and the mic only picks up a little of the sound around you on a call. The Bluetrek Speaky is strange looking as I mentioned, so be sure you don’t mind having it sitting on your dash if you plunk down your $69.99. This may be the perfect Bluetooth kit for a teen driver since it looks different from your average device. Paring with my iPhone 4 was a snap. You flip the on/off switch on the back of the phone and it comes on. The first time I pressed the bell on the Speaky it went into pairing mode. There was no code needed to pair with my iPhone and when it was paired and ready it spoke that out so I would know. The speaker has plenty of volume as well so you can hear easily when you are driving even if there is a lot of noise in or outside the car. Other than the odd looks of the Bluetrek Speaky, the only other thing that bothers me is the way it mounts to the car. I don’t like having to put sticky tape on my car to hold the Bluetrek Speaky in place. I also felt like it was going to come off the Velcro pads when I pressed the main control button.

The Bluetrek Speaky is a very interesting little Bluetooth hands free system with style that users will either love or hate. The Speaky works well with a few quibbles.
